Why the same cup can vary so much

  • Bean species: Robusta has roughly twice the caffeine of Arabica.
  • Brew ratio: More coffee per cup means more caffeine.
  • Serving size: Café “small” drinks are often 12 oz, not 8.
  • Roast level: Per bean, roast has little effect; measured by scoop, light roasts can be slightly higher because they’re denser.
